The Chess Association of Novi Sad and the Chess Association of Vojvodina organized the District Competition for elementary school students in the subject of chess for the 2022/2023 school year. year, which was held at Elementary School "Jan Čajak" in Bački Petrovac on March 26, 2023. The competition consisted of two parts: individual and team competition. More than 180 students participated in the individual competition, while as many as 14 teams from the South Bačka district competed in the team competition!

The team competition was played on 6 boards; at least 2 female students and at least 2 male students. On the first 2 boards, male students played, on the last 2 female students, on the third and fourth, free choice. The team could have three reserves; two reserves for the first four boards and one reserve for the last two boards.

COMPETITION REGULATIONS
The tournament was played in 7 rounds, computer pairing. Duration of the game in the competition: 15 minutes per player. The criteria in case of division of places in the individual competition were Međubuholc-1 (37), mutual meeting (11), greater number of victories (68), Sonneborn (52) and Aranc (61). The criteria in case of division of places in the team competition were: points, head-to-head.

It is not possible to participate in the next level of the competition, if the competitor or team did not participate in the previous one; the competition is of the qualification type.
The first place competitor from the previous district competition has the right to perform directly
at the district competition next school year. The first-place competitor at the previous national competition has the right to directly perform at the national competition of the following school year. The second and third place players in the previous national competition have the right to directly participate in the District competition of the following school year. Directly placed competitors do not have the right to perform at the previous levels of the competition.
Republic competition
