A well-known Vojvodina businessman and chess player, FIDE, died in Novi Sad
master Ivan Ujhazi. He was educated in his native Subotica, where he lived until completing his studies at the Faculty of Economics. After military service, he started his working career as a successful economist and commercialist in Zenica in 1970 in the Middle Bosnian mines. In 1978, he arrived in Vrdnik and Irig and worked in the RGP \"Vrdnik\", then in the newly founded Fru\u0161kogorsk mines. In the meantime, he held the position of secretary for finances of the municipality of Irig, and then for two terms he was the president of the executive council of the same
municipalities. He came to Novi Sad in 1993 and founded the family company \"Di komerc\" there with his wife Jelisaveta. He will have a rich business career, mostly in management positions, and his retirement in the Novi Sad company \"Magan\". <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ivan took his first chess steps with his father, who was a big fan of the game of chess and a regular visitor to SK \"Spartak\" in Subotica. In his pioneering days, he took part in chess events in his hometown, in order to achieve his first significant success at the Youth Championship of the SFRY in Dravograd in 1963, where he shared fifth place in the competition with future VM and IM Cebal, Martinovi\u0107, Ivanovi\u0107, Antunac, Cvetkovi\u0107, Ni\u010devski and Rujevi\u0107. After a multi-year break during studies and the first years of work,
successfully returns to chess by sharing first place at the Zenica Championship. As a FIDE master, he participated in numerous international and domestic competitions, open state championships, cups, first and second leagues, playing for \"Spartak\" from Subotica, \"\u010celik\" from Zenica, \"Sloven\" from Ruma, \u0160K Novi Sad, \"Cement\" from Beo\u010din and \"Cement\" from Novi Sad. Anpasan\". He represented Serbia at two world and one European \"Maccabiada\". He played his last moves playing for the Gerontology Club \"Olga Petrov\" in the popular \"retirement\" league of Novi
Now. He passed on his love for chess to his children Danijela (our famous chess player) and Igor and grandchildren Ivan and Aleksander. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
