Cadet League of Serbia in solving chess problems - FM Slobodan Bojković

"Cadet League of Serbia in solving chess problems

"Cadet League of Serbia in solving chess problems On January 29 last year, the Cadet League of Serbia in solving chess problems successfully started. Serbia was one of 27 countries from around the world when chess problems were simultaneously solved in the official competition up to 13 years of age. At the competition in Belgrade and Novi Sad, there were 7 participants in the official competition. To begin with, the results of the contestants were excellent, and the most surprising was seven-year-old Leonid Ivanovic, who, unfortunately, did not appear again.

In the course of the year, seven more rounds were held, other competitors also joined (a total of 49 of them participated at least once), so that at the time there were about 15 to 20 participants per round. I would like to mention that since November, thanks only to the hard work and enthusiasm of Goran Petrović, the national judge and children's coach, the competitions have been held at the third location, in Aradac, and the children have shown outstanding results. Apart from the already established twins, eight-year-old Mihajlo and Jovan Bilić, we should also praise ten-year-old Nikola Radulović, but experienced fourteen-year-old Mihajlo Rajčević.

In Novi Sad, thanks to the FIDE master, national judge and chess coach, Željko Medar, his students mostly participated. Special praise should be given to 11-year-old Konstantin Mandraš and two years older Uroš Zarić, and their race until the last, eighth round, was uncertain. Only due to minor inattention (loss of concentration?), Konstantin gave up the first place in Vojvodina to Uroš Zarić. Luka Gilica also deserves praise for his constant progress. And for successes with only two participations, nine-year-old Nikola Adamović, winner under 10 years old at the Republic Competition in Novi Sad in April 2023, and slightly older Ognjen Radić should be singled out. Of the girls in Novi Sad, the best was the experienced Teodora Jauković, but I especially highlight the new hope, the talented eight-year-old Oksana Ribinceva. I'm sorry that, at least once, the talented nine-year-old Miloš Pasula didn't join us.

Aleksandar Kutanjac and Vera Vujović winners

Due to the children's obligations in school and extracurricular activities, as well as in active chess and uneven learning, the three best results were counted for plasmaman. Based on that total the winner of the Cadet League of Serbia in 2023 is Aleksandar Kutanjac from Belgrade, the winner of last year's school Republic Cadet Championship up to 14 years old, while he is closely followed by Boško Stefanović and Nikola Gvozden, also from Belgrade. It's the fourth Vera Vujović, from only three attempts, иначе би била и успешнија. It should be emphasized that last year Vera became our youngest FIDE master in the women's competition. The fifth is Aleksa Avramović, the sixth is Uroš Zarić, the seventh is Konstantin Mandraš, the eighth is Marija Jevtić, the ninth is Luka Gilica, the tenth is Justina Milošević, etc. The progress of Nikola Mijalčić from Belgrade should also be highlighted, as well as the flash of Nikola Rakić from Požarevac.

The total results of the Cadet B League of chess problem solvers of Serbia are available on the website "Veciti sah" in the section "Problems" there are also practice problems, as well as problems of all rounds and all age groups at the school Republic Cadet Competition in April 2023 in Novi Sad.

Apart from the already mentioned national judges Željko Medar and Goran Petrović, the success of the competition was also contributed by the referee in Belgrade, Milomir Babić, master of problem chess. And the spirit of everything and the tone of the competition was given by the experienced IM FIDE for chess composition and international referee Borislav Gađanski from Zrenjanin with the selection of problems, and also as the head judge of the League.

I emphasize that thanks to the enthusiasm of the main actors, and without the help of the Serbian Academy of Sciences, the competition for children was free, without registration fees, and it will be the same this year!

All competitors with at least three participations in the Cadet League of Serbia received commemorative chess books. The most successful competitors in the male and female competitions were awarded medals, and the winners Aleksandar Kutanjac and Vera Vujović were awarded magnetic chess pieces. Uroš Zarić and Konstantin Mandraš from Novi Sad also received magnetic chess as the only competitors in all eight held rounds, given that, looking at all the results, they practically crossed the finish line together. After the third participation on January 21, children from Aradac will also receive books, and magnetic chess will be given to the most successful solver from that small but successful chess community.

Cadet League of Serbia for 2024.

The first round of the Cadet League of Serbia for 2024 begins with the 20th International ISC Championship on January 21, when children born in 2011 and younger will be able to participate in the official competition. Four two moves, three moves and a study will be solved. That's why I invite interested children to look at the problems on the "Eternal Chess" website, solve a problem and join us in solving it. That Serbia has more successful representatives. The announcement of the tournament and other details will be published on January 15 in the "Politics" chess supplement and on the "Eternal Chess" website.

Parents can find information about the importance of problem chess, which is beneficial for children in many ways, in the article Memories 5 from January 13, 2023 in in the "Reportage" section on the "Veciti sah" website.

Namely, solving problems at the same time is not only part of a sports fight with an opponent, but also a fight with oneself, then, but also later, at home. In addition, solving develops objectivity, intuition, creativity, poise, sense of beauty, art...

Finally, this year, I would like to thank Bishop Andrejić once again for his good will, the formation of the "Problems" column and the publication of results and problems with solutions, so that children and adults throughout Serbia can practice and enjoy unexpected solutions to problems. and further."
