IN MEMORIAM: RATOMIR BOGDANOVIĆ (1941-2022)

IN MEMORIAM: RATOMIR BOGDANOVIĆ (13.04.1941 -15.02.2022.)

In Novi Sad, in February of this year, after a short illness, Ratomir Bogdanović, a well-known businessman and great chess fan, left us forever.

Rata, as we chess players called him, after schooling and graduating from college in Subotica, during his professional career, he held high management positions in Zem. cooperative Zmajevo, HINS and NIS Naftagas, from which he retired. With his work, he justified the trust placed in him by the important tasks he performed. He left behind his wife and daughter.

He fell in love with chess at an early age, and he officially joined the chess organization by joining SK "Petar Drapšin" from Turia, for which he played successfully for a decade. When the aforementioned club stopped working, in 2000 he moved to Novi Sad's SK "Borac", where he remained until his death. During all those years, he was also a supporting member of NŠK, our oldest club. During the last two decades, he actively participated in the management of this club as a member of the Assembly, Management and Supervisory Board, contributing with his amateur work to the success of our best club in this millennium.

Rata was a solid chess player with the title of master candidate and FIDE rating of 1842 points. He participated in a number of city and provincial competitions, and he especially liked playing in one-day rapid and blitz tournaments where he knew how to beat players with higher chess titles. He was also involved in judging chess competitions, as a regional judge. After his retirement, he played for the gerontological club "Ivo Andrić" in the veteran chess league of Novi Sad.

Because of all the above, our dear friend and chess player Ratomir Bogdanović will be remembered as a man who was a pleasure to know and hang out with!
