The Chess Association of Novi Sad, in cooperation with the Chess Association of Vojvodina and ŠK "Jugović" from Kać, organized the Municipal Primary School Chess Championship. The competition was held on March 5 at the Elementary School "Đura Jakšić" in Kać.
Elementary school students had the opportunity to compete in 17 categories: from 1st to 8th grade, especially for male and female students and in the team championship. The games were played for 15 minutes per player in 7 rounds according to the Swiss pairing system or the Berger pairing system, in case of insufficient number of participants. The three best-placed students earned the right to participate in the District Competition of Elementary Schools, which will be held on March 26 at "Jan Čajak" Primary School in Bački Petrovac.
About 200 young students participated in the municipal championship, and the competition was opened by the member of the city council in charge of sports and youth, Ognjen Cvetićanin, on behalf of the mayor of Novi Sad, Milan Đurić.
