The 31st Vojvodina Youth Chess Festival was held from February 14 to 18 at the Putnik Hotel in Novi Sad. A record number of young chess players took part in the festival, over 190 participants!
As part of the festival, the pioneer, cadet and youth championships of Vojvodina in classical chess were held in categories: boys and girls up to 8 years old, boys and girls up to 10 years old, boys and girls up to 12 years old, boys and girls up to 14 years old, young men and young women up to 20 years. Male and female competitors in the age categories up to 16 and 18 years were also ranked separately.
Competitions took place in 9 rounds according to the Swiss system, with a game tempo of 90 minutes + 30 seconds per move. The 10 most successful games in their respective categories earned the right to perform at the Serbian Youth Festival.
